Because I’m not someone who likes to make really snap decisions…and because I’m an eternal pessimist…I thought to myself, ‘Self, you really should go back to Torchy’s and try it again to make sure that it wasn’t just a fluke thing.’

So I did.

For sake of compare/contrast, I got the Green Chili Pork taco again and a Ranch Hand (fajita beef, scrambled eggs, cheese and ‘diablo sauce’).

The GCP I just wolfed down like I was a man who hasn’t eaten food in about 6 years.  I couldn’t stop myself. Once again, it was pretty much…no, not pretty much…it WAS right in-line with the one I had the other day; same good quality ingredients, same sloppy look, same beautiful silver aluminum foil wrapper, same tasty green chili sauce.

And then the Ranch Hand. This one I actually took a little bit of time before I ate and took a couple of pics to give you some idea of how freakin’ beautiful, large, and a little bit gross looking these things really are.  Lookie…the texture, the shape, the sheer mass of food stuffed in between a pillowy soft folded circle of lard-based breadified goodness…

Sweet mother…the Ranch Hand was as fantastic as everyone has made it out to be as well. Note the kind of orange-ish looking sauce up front and in the little cup in the second picture; that’s the diablo sauce. That’s the secret to this one.  Don’t get me wrong; minus the sauce, the ingredients/experience holds up. However, bites with the sauce yielded the same halucinogenic effects that that other tacos did. This time, though, it was a voice in my head saying, “Dude…keep eating this stuff and you’re going to blow up like a bomb-strapped terrorist. Of course,  when it involves stuff this amazing, that might not be so bad…”

Stupid voices.

So…Torchy’s is the real thing.
