I have the same condition, and am just now (and for the past month) struggling to get back to the 'I just might be improving' phase. I was given the drug Sulphasalazine: bad side effects; serious abdominal pain, nausea, anorexia, and a worsening of my condition. It's been three weeks since stopping the drug, and while I'm improving, it's still precarious. That's great you're on the upswing! Good description- I know how you feel.
